My T-Rex, my favourite heli (an amazing 3D Heli)Hey all, welcome to my rc models, let me introduce myself, my name is Liam Gorman, Im an avid RC fan and I am creating this site to share my experience of this great hobby with the world,  for my first post I just want to give you guys an idea of my experience, what models I am currently flying and driving and maybe an idea of what to expect when you visit the site. I enjoy sharing any information I have and hope that my experiences will help some of you in making the right decisions when getting into this brilliant hobby. RC models are now cheaper than ever before to get into with the developments in recent years of the Lipo Battery and cheaper and more reliable Nitro and Petrol engines for the larger models.

This is my favourite heli (at the moment anyway) the Align T-Rex 450 pro an electric model capable of amazing 3D flying. I’ll be posting some videos on the heli pages pretty soon, check em out!

So whether you are into flying planes, flying helis or maybe racing cars, boats or off road I’ll be covering all areas from learning to fly (selection of your first model here is a key factor) to maintenance, fuel selection, battery selection etc. I will also be covering the many different models of heli, plane, boat and cars with reviews from me personally where possible. I will also provide information on the many clubs available for you to join, if any of you need info on clubs in your area just drop me a line letting me know where you are and I will do my best to put you in touch with your nearest group of enthusiasts.

Guys, this is my kitchen table on a typical day, (when ya get hooked on this hobby your priorities change a little, who needs to eat eh!!) for any of you guys who are married, better check with the better half first before taking over the kitchen, LOL

One more thing guys, this blog is set up primarily to help out any of you wishing to get into the hobby or any of you that need help in any way. So anyone with any questions of any kind, don’t hesitate to get in touch no matter how trivial, I’ll answer all your questions. And don’t jump in at the deep end guys, this is the primary reason for most guys leaving this hobby before even getting started especially if you intend on flying, I’ll be recommending the best type of models to start out with, if you start with the right model then flying is the absolute most enjoyment you will ever get from this hobby

This is just a few of my cars, another great side to this hobby(75mph out of the box, cool) and below is the P51 Mustang a beautiful warbird from parkzone (not for beginners as my partner in crime Paul found out the hard way, more about that later)

This is one of the more unusual models below, a panzer tank, fully operational (fires 6mm ball bearings, cool) and below right is the nitrous Matrix Tr Arena from Cen one of the best truggys on the market, great off road fun.

Guys, I have many more models I’ll be showing you and talking about in the next few weeks and months so check back often and as I said before, any questions you have or any models you need reviewed just drop me a line through the contact box and I’ll answer as soon as possible( E-Mail address will be up shortly) Hope you like the site guys, see you soon.

Almost forgot the boats guys, I’ll also cover model boats for those of you with access to suitable waterways. Below is my own model, a chinese import with a 22cc petrol engine(great fun but it helps to have a canoe available, more about that later too)

Hi guys, if you’re like me and any of you have young kids who cant wait to get their hands on your rc models then there is a solution. I have seen some amazing videos of 4yr old kids flying 3d with nitro powered helicopters but these are exceptional to say the least and I dont know about you guys but Im not sure I could face the prospect of letting my 8yr old loose with my T-Rex just yet. However we can’t blame the kids for wanting to have a go and in fact we should encourage them, so how to go about it then. Personally I find the best way to introduce them to the world of rc is with the many minature electric models now available. Whether you are looking for planes, helicopters or cars the many and varied models now available, especially now that we have access to the many rc shops online leaves nothing to the imagination. In the above image is three of my own sons models manufactured by silverlit. These minature models are made of high quality foam, are very crash resistant (these have been flown into walls, ceilings and furniture hundreds of times without damage) and are extremely good value for money. While the earlier silverlit models were 2 channel and didn’t offer realistic scale flight, almost all models now are 3 channel and are exceptional fliers. These models from silverlit are a great introduction to rc flying in that they give the user a feel for how the model reacts to user input on the transmitter. Although they are designed to be crashed many times without damage (in fact the two helis in the foreground above have lasers built in to shoot each other down-cool) I actually encourage my son to attempt full flights without incident to prepare him for a step up to more advanced models.

Along with the helicopters, silverlit now also manufacture similar planes, my son has one as seen on the left. Again these are very impressive for this price range. The only downside to note with the planes is unless you have access to a large indoor hall or arena then flying time is very limited as almost any slight wind makes these almost impossible to fly. However as they are also virtually indestructable its great fun trying and when you do eventually get perfect conditions they’re fantastic fun.

Both the helis and the planes featured here are included with built in lipo batteries recharged directly from the transmitter in about twenty min so all you need for limitless flying fun is 8 AA batteries for the tx(I strongly recommend rechargable batteries as always).

Check out the video below to see one of the above helis in action, these are great fun for kids and of course for the big kids too..

Although I haven’t purchased any other silverlit models they do also manufacture cars, bikes ufos and many other rc toys and if the helis and planes that I have purchased are anything to go by then the quality and value for money is the best that I’ve come across.

I just had to add this next video just so you can all see what is possible, don’t ask me where the kid got the talent but this little guy is just amazing, he’s 7 now but this video was shot at 4 yrs old, this kid can take control of any of my helis anyday, I just wish I could fly like him. Check this out…………..
